A new chapter in the work of PSC Support

Maxine Cowlin

PSC Support hires its first employee

It’s great to know that PSC research is ramping up and liver disease is high on the agenda of policy makers. In addition to providing research funding, we have an opportunity to drive improvements to liver services and the care that we receive.

Despite being a tiny volunteer organisation, PSC Support provides a strong voice for people affected by PSC, nationally and internationally, and demand for our time, expertise and experience is high. We’ve taken steps to ensure we can meet that demand and drive forward our promise to improve the lives of people affected by PSC and ultimately, find an effective treatment.

We’re grateful for our incredible volunteers who help with everyday activities from accounting, advocacy, awareness, selling and promoting merchandise to moderating our wonderful, supportive Facebook group.

However, there’s more we want to do. To meet the growing demands and services we want to deliver for patients, families, and clinicians, we need to change.

We are delighted to appoint our very first employee: Maxine Cowlin, also a PSC transplant patient, who started work with us this week as our Programme Development Officer. Maxine has volunteered on our Management Committee and supported PSC Support in advocacy, fundraising, and awareness work over the last four years.

So, exciting times ahead as PSC Support continues to grow and achieve more for our cause. We know there is still a lot of work to be done, and we want to achieve so much more.

Finally, we recognise that none of our work could be done without our incredible fundraisers and the continued engagement of people affected by PSC. Thank you everyone who has given PSC Support time, donations, advice and expertise. We wish you all a happy and healthy 2019.
