COVID Vaccines and the Immune System

How do COVID vaccines affect people who are taking immunosuppressive medicines?

Professor Tim Spector (Scientific Lead on the ZOE COVID Symptom Study App and Professor of Genetic Epidemiology at King's College London), Professor Ellie Barnes (expert in immunology from Oxford University, and member of the UK Coronavirus Immunology Consortium) and Dr Anna Goodman (principal investigator for the Astra Zeneca and Novavax clinical trials and a consultant in infectious diseases at Guy's and St Thomas'Hospital) discuss data from over 500,000 vaccines to understand how they are working in the real world.

They look at efficacy and after-effects in different sections of society, including people who are on on immunosuppressive medicines.

The video also touches on the clinical trial, OCTAVE, which is measuring participants' immune responses over time before and after having a COVID vaccine.
