Priority Groups for COVID-19 Vaccines

Vaccines for COVID-19

Who will get them first?

COVID VACCINES web

Pharmaceutical companies have been running clinical trials to evaluate the safety and efficacy (effectiveness) of COVID-19 vaccines across the world. A number of government agencies are involved in reviewing the trial data, approving them and rolling the vaccine out to the public.

People who are considered to be clinically extremely vulnerable and those with chronic liver disease are expected to be among the groups of people prioritised to receive the vaccine first, as well as older people and healthcare workers.

On 2 December, the UK was the first nation in the world to approve a COVID-19 vaccine. The provisional guidance about priority groups was updated and confirmed, and so we've updated our COVID vaccine information to reflect that.
