Special Interest Group for Immune-Mediated Liver Disease

BASL logo

The Immune-Mediated Liver Disease Special Interest Group (the "Immune-SIG") is an affiliate of the British Association for Study of Liver Disease (BASL) and is a collaboration between the existing projects for: UK-PSC, UK-PBC, UK-AIH and IgG4-related hepatobiliary disease.

The remit of this new Special Interest Group is to generate high quality multi-centre observational cohort studies, increase patient registration to each of the core UK-autoimmune liver disease strands, and perhaps most importantly, develop collaborative grant applications on a larger scale, focussing on key areas of research priority set out by patients, clinicians and industry.

Martine and Maxine BASL Immune SIG 110719

Martine and Maxine attended the first face-to-face meeting of the Immune SIG on 11 July. Martine presented the patient perspective on areas where the Immune-SIG could add value to PSC research and clinical care for PSC patients.

The meeting generated positive discussion and there was a definite willingness to work together to address the unmet needs of people with PSC, autoimmune hepatitis (AIH), primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) and IgG4-related hepatobiliary disease.
